How sponsoring a project works

While building a water project is no simple task, we think sponsoring one should be. Here are three steps you can expect:

We Direct Your Gift Where It’s
Needed Most

After you give, 100% of your contribution is thoughtfully allocated to water projects based on community needs, readiness, and long-term sustainability.

We Share Updates as Work Progresses

As projects move forward, we share on-the-ground updates, stories, and progress from our local partners.

You See the Impact

Once a project is complete, we share a detailed update highlighting what was built, where it’s located, and how it’s serving the community.

A tailored approach

Water solutions work best when they fit the community. Our local partners evaluate geography, water sources, and cultural context to identify the most effective and sustainable approach.

Featured programs

Water access solutions differ based on terrain, water source depth, population size, and infrastructure needs. Our featured programs showcase a range of approaches designed to meet these varying conditions and deliver sustainable clean water where it is needed most.

Uganda

An estimated 37% of Uganda’s population lacks access to basic clean water, while 63% lacks access to basic sanitation services. These challenges are most acute in rural areas, where geography, climate, and infrastructure limitations complicate water access.

Low groundwater potential in many regions makes drilling technically complex and costly. Increasingly unpredictable and intense rainy seasons have further disrupted construction timelines in recent years. In addition, while much of Uganda’s groundwater is safe to drink, its high acidity accelerates corrosion, damaging galvanized iron pipes commonly used in older water points and leading to frequent breakdowns.

WORKIND WITH LOCAL PARTNERS

Delivering sustainable water solutions in Uganda requires strong local expertise. In districts such as Butaleja, Buyende, and Bugiri, water access is shaped by challenging geology, salinity, and infrastructure constraints.

Local water partners address these challenges by combining technical knowledge with experienced drillers and by prioritizing preventative maintenance and rapid-response repairs. Community-based maintenance models—often supported through small monthly contributions—help keep water systems functional and reduce long-term downtime.
